Artist’s Statement
I’ve always known that I wanted to be an artist. Whether as an animator, illustrator, painter or muralist, I’ve always had a drive to create. Often, that means many projects and ideas-- more than I can achieve with the time, money and abilities at my disposal. But every idea is an experiment, something to attempt, a problem to solve.
I find as an artist that I usually have a clear visual idea of what I want to create or achieve. The challenge is to find the best way to accomplish that vision. Sometimes it’s as easy as experimenting with a few different mediums. Other times I find myself fashioning a loom out of canvas stretchers and yarn, or attempting some other equally crazy scheme.
The most exciting thing is seeing where the process takes me. When the result becomes something completely unexpected and amazing, it gives me a new skill to bring to my work.
